How can I give myself a great pedicure at home?

I do my toes at home (friends too) and we always get great compliments!

1~ Soak your feet for approx 10 minutes. You can use a bowl full of water and some foot soak, or just plain shower gel. (This loosens/softens the dead skin)

2~ Use a pumice stone or a special foot filer on your heels and calouses. Then use a smoother to smooth off the rough skin. ( U can buy a pumice and a smoother for about $1 ea at any drug store).

3~ Trim your toenails to the desired length and then file smoothe with an emery board.

4~ Use a nail buffer to buff out the ridges on the top of the nails. (Also about $1-$2 at drug store) Then follow up with the really smooth side to add a shine.

5~ I use an orange reed to push back my cuticles. They make special cuticle trimmers too, that u can find in the same aisle as the polishes etc.

6~ Apply a base coat, then polish. Finish up with a super shiny top coat and Voila!

** I also buy the small nail polishes that are used in the salons to put a design on my big toe. I've found them at the hair stores for about $2.How can I give myself a great pedicure at home?
I don't know...

For guys - I think it involves a chainsaw, sander and duct tape.

Oh, and a welding mask for flying debris and sparks!

Just to add; I hope your licensed, because if not. You can't legally advertise and charge for doing peoples nails, and if the state board finds out, They will fine you.

How do I do my own pedicure? What do I need?

I watched a video on youtube about how dirty nail salons are, but I love manicures and pedicures so I decided to start doing my own. I need to know what to do and what tools I need, I want it to be as good as possible! Please give me a really good explanation or even give me a link to a site that will tell me.How do I do my own pedicure? What do I need?
Go to a beauty salon they usually have products you can buy.

Otherwise buy you own manicure and pedicure set and products and most of the time if you get a kit there will be intsructions you can follow. Just shop around and find a good kit/set.

    Goodluck

3 months ago, I got a pedicure and the pedicurist made a scratch on my toe with her nail.Could I have got HIV?

The scratch did blood a liiiiiiittle bit.

    She didn't wear gloves.

She didn't have an open wound.3 months ago, I got a pedicure and the pedicurist made a scratch on my toe with her nail.Could I have got HIV?
No. She would have had to bleed as well, and then the virus would have had to enter through the cut, which is very unlikely. HIV is actually very hard to get, which is why you basically only see it in people who have had unprotected sex with a man (since infected body fluids are actually introduced into the body), IV drug users who share dirty needles (again directly introducing infected blood into the body), or in blood transfusions of the past before the blood supply was screened properly. If you have no cuts or open wounds, your skin will keep out the virus, so much so that you could actually dunk your hand (with perfectly intact skin) into a bucket of HIV infected blood, and not get the virus (obviously, I wouldn't suggest you try that to see). In any case, you are safe.3 months ago, I got a pedicure and the pedicurist made a scratch on my toe with her nail.Could I have got HIV?
Probably not, but you should be worried about Hepatitis C!

I would get a test just to rule out past exposure and then retest at about day 50 or more to rule out infection!

NEVER go to a nail salon who reuses anything! Find one who will store YOUR instruments.

The chance of acquring HCV is minimal in this case, but if her nail had scratched someone else prior to her scratching you, it's possible for HCV to transmit- IF the person before you or up to four days of clients bled and this person didn't wash their hands.

HCV blood that has dried can transmit if given the right opportunity- ie, anotherones bloodstream, in up to four days.

    Good luck!
Actually, yes it is possible. This is how. The HIV/AIDS virus is dependent upon direct contact, however, how can you be sure that her nail has not been in direct contact with an hiv/aids infected person? If she scratched you, did she scratch someone else? Get a test, set your mind at rest, also, find another pedicurist, it is extremely un-professional for her to have long enough nails to cut you and not have the common courtesy to wear gloves to prevent potential cross contamination. If she is this sloppy with her technique, does she sterilize her instruments?
NO. u do not HIV can only be transmited by touching blood. If she had an open wound and you had an open wound on your toe before she scratched it then maybe.... :)
no you wont get aids unless you have blood trans to you blood ok

How much of a tip should I give for a $20 pedicure?

For a $20 pedicure, if they did a good job, you should leave about 20%, which would be $4. If they did an outstanding job, leave 25%, $5How much of a tip should I give for a $20 pedicure?
what Jen saidHow much of a tip should I give for a $20 pedicure?
Depending on the quality your tip can range from 15%-20%. So $3 or $4 sounds about right
if it's a place you go to on a regular basis...I would say $4 to $5
    4-5$ would be sufficent
    I don't
Most good beauty treatments a 15% tip is sufficient. If you live in a big city - or they did an outstanding job 20%.

    So, $3 - $4
    15% = $3.00 is customary.
I'd give $5 but go with at least $2.
    3 or 4 dollars
about $5.00 a person... like if 1 person starts it and another 1 finishes it... be respectful and tip both... it may suck then... but at least they wont be saying mean things in Korean about you... :P

    %26lt;3 Ms. Hannah
About $4, but make it more if the person was nice and did a very nice job :)

I always tip about $5 when I get a pedi because the lady that does it is really nice and good (i get the same person each time)

    :)
about $3.00 is ok. if they are really good and your happy with the pedicure 4.00

What would be a clever name for my sister's manicure/pedicure shop?

God Bless! xWhat would be a clever name for my sister's manicure/pedicure shop?

No, it's perfectly normal for a guy to get waxed and/or get a pedicure!

It's totally sexy and hot! All guys should get their entire body waxed to see if they like it. Soft smooth skin is really the way to go!

There are lots of places all over that wax men all over! Just do a search! I've included some in my links and also some links that tell you how to do your own waxing as well!Is there somthing wrong with a guy getting a pedicure or getting waxed?
NO WAY! I love it when guys have nice feet and smooth skin, lol. I don't like ME to be nasty so why would I prefer a guy to be nasty? By all means, wax your body hair and get manicures and pedicures. It's hot!

Pedicure and manicure are simply having PROFESSIONAL care for the feet and hands.

MANY competitive swimmers remove hair from legs and arms to increase their speed in the water. (Yes, it DOES work!!)
Not a thing. I am not into metro guys but keeping your nails and feet neat is great. Why wouldn't a woman want a man to get a back waxing? A pelt on a human isn't attractive at all.
nothing wrong at all just skip getting the nails painted lol and theres nothing wrong with waxing either.

  • Can i get a french pedicure if my toe nails are short?

i've never done a french pedicure before. so, yeah. can i still get a french pedicure even if my toe nails are short?

and is it painful? (dumb question i know)

and how long do they last? Can i get a french pedicure if my toe nails are short?
course u can and its not painful atall! will last about a week id sayCan i get a french pedicure if my toe nails are short?
If you go to a salon to do it they still cut it short (don't know how they make the nails look long)..No it is not painful it's wonderful cause they massage your feet and legs and you sit on a massaging chair...ahhhhh....See now I'm gonna have to go do my feet! It can take close to an hour but once yu are done it is so relaxing and your toes will look great!
1.yeah u can still get one if your nails are 2 short

2.no its not painful at all

3.they last for like a week-2 weeks (depends on what u do..like if u play sports or are very active then less time it will last exspecially if your in the water frequently)
If you have no ';free edge'; as they call it, then a french pedicure might look a little silly, but they will always find a way to do it...

A pedicure should NEVER be painful, and all of the tools should be yours or soaking in a solvent before they are used on you. If something they do does hurt, be sure to point it out... it is your body they are working on and you are paying for a service...

In the summer, if you are wearing open toe shoes your pedicure should last about 2 weeks. Shorter if you're wearing closed toe shoes that rub them, or if you swim in chlorine often; longer if you are fortunate enough to have the polish adhere really well!
    Why not.

Would you rather get a pedicure done at a salon or doing it yourself?

I'm debating whether I should get a pedicure done at a salon or doing it myself at home. Most of the time I don't get them done at a salon since im very ticklish from my feet lol but im thinking maybe i should but debating salon or doing at home myselfWould you rather get a pedicure done at a salon or doing it yourself?
the salonWould you rather get a pedicure done at a salon or doing it yourself?
i used to get them done at salons, but after i got a foot tattoo %26amp; watched some horror stories on tyra of pedicures gone wrong (the salon didn't clean their tools, etc.,) i've started doing them at home. it's much cheaper, and gives you time to chill out %26amp; relax while your toes dry
well. for me eh I'm kind of neutral. i work in a nail salon. yeah i know what you talking about. lol i just do my own nails.

but i still think you should go to the salon. they paint it better.... BUT. it's expensive
i love to treat my self. I get my nails done every 2 weeks. yes my feet is also ticklish as well. but i go to same person so they know how to scrub my feet.
it might look nicer at a salon and you will have good treatment but i'm always worried about getting foot fungus or athlete's feet from someone else who went there! Also if you go tell them to go easy on your feet your very tickilish!
    Get it done, why not?

I personally never have b.c i think it's a waste of money...if you have my philosophy then do it yourself.

    :)
its funny im a manicurist, but would rather do my own, instead of pampering myself.
I would rather go in a salon than do them myself because it is more relaxing.
salon!!! they look soooo much better
Go to the salon...It's much more relaxing...Just tell 'em your ticklish, and they'll be careful around your feet.

Ideas for an at home pedicure and manicure?

So, I want to do my hands and toes today, any advice? Really, I don't have stuff to soak my feet and hands in, so anything I can make ath ome would be great, Thanks!Ideas for an at home pedicure and manicure?
    Okay this is it:

1.Using an emery board, file your nails from the edges into the center rounding them until they are oval in shape.

2.Dip your fingers into a small bowl of warm soapy water for a few minutes. This helps to soften the skin around the nail base and so makes pushing the skin back easier.

3.Dry your fingers and nails thoroughly.

4.Massage some lotion around the finger and cuticle area and with a cotton swab push the skin back.

Okay next it's time to apply the nail polish.

1.Once your nails are clean after the process above get clear nail polish and apply it from your cuticle up.

2.Let that dry for about 5 minutes and then get a colored nail polish (preferably white if you want a nice french manicure) and this takes lots of of patient to do, take the brush and carefully brush it from left to right at the TIP of your finger not covering your whole nail!

3.Let that dry again for about 5 minutes and then apply another coat of clear nail polish. Make sure you put a coat of clear nail polish on before and after because the first time you put it on it makes your nails stronger and less likely to chip and the last coat makes the french manicure a french manicure adding the suddle shine to your nails.

    4. The last step is just let them dry and have fun.

P.S. - You do the same exact thing with your toenails. Hope I helped you out! =0) I'm a pro! teeheeIdeas for an at home pedicure and manicure?

i get a red or pink color with flowers painted on the thumb nail and i make my toes match--i just tell them 2 do wat ever flower i think would look good or wat ever design and it turns out awsum!!!
I just get the pedicure ... no paint, no polish, no designs
I'm very basic i just get them painted a bright red. However i quit going when my toenail turned a yellowish color afterwards
i get it once week, a diffrent place every time, i love plae pink with a little pink flower on the big toes.
you get all sorts of colors

next time for a design why don't u just line up rhinestones across your toenail tip with a dark toenail color
The french tip is always nice. Looks good with a tan too.
I think the best thing is a french manicure. But if you don't want to have a french manicure all summer here is what I do:

I paint my nails with french manicure polish. Then I take a thin acrylic overlay to protect it. Then if you choose to wear a different color that matches your outfit all you have to do is apply two coats over the french manicure to change the color.

Then if you want to go back to the french manicure all you have to do is use NON-ACETONE nail polish to take of the polish and then you will have your french manicure back.

This is so convenient because french manicure goes with anything and if you don't have time to polish your nails you can still have a great look for summer.

All of my nail clients love this! Give it a try!

    Good luck to you! ~

Plan on leaving $30 USD poorer as a rule.Usually how much are a manicure and pedicure?
I pay between $30-$35 for both a manicure and a pedicure. It depends on where you go. Asian salons are always the best places to go to. They cost less, and they do the best nails ever.
    depends where you go

    mines usually cost 7.00
mine usually only cost like $15! its a bargin!%26lt;33
Around 30 but it depends on were you go.

yesss, frenchh! with hawian orchid! (: thats wat i always get im 14What pedicure color or french should i get tomorow when i get a pedicure, for a teenage girl?
I loke american french manicures. They're more natural looking. I've seen it done in blue and black. Both looked good.

And if you're planning on getting in the water, the salt water reacts with tip coat and gels it and makes it really sticky and screws up your new mani/pedi. If you go to a salon, get the UV gel top coat. You'll set under UV light for a few minutes they'll wipe off the extra with alcohol and you're set! It stays fresh and new for a looong time afterwards, too. Actually, they make gel color, too! Find a place that uses it around you....promise you won't regret it or go back to regular clear coat polish! =)

you should do orange or yellow with a white tip, fun colors! but for an everyday basis? stick 2 the original french
    just apply natural colored one.
I always get French. They look good with every pair of shoes on earth...

  • I have a gift certificate for a pedicure but my toenails won't grow?

They always chip and break and I end up clipping them all off. I am embarrassed to get a pedicure with no toenails or chipped nails. What should I do?I have a gift certificate for a pedicure but my toenails won't grow?
Get one anyways. Peicures are amazing and you will feel pampered. They will take care of your toenails for you by filing them and rounding them off. They'll clip them and take off the extra skin on the sides so they don't look so embarassing and untidy. They also paint them and no matter how short your toenails are, they will look much more amazing with a little paint on them and a pretty design on the big toenail.

Please though, don't get fake toenails. You will be stubbing them all the time if you wear flipflops, or have an uncomfortable time wearing shoes.I have a gift certificate for a pedicure but my toenails won't grow?
get fake nails put on them. they're use to alot of people getting them put on to give the toenails longer length.
a pedicure will help your nails grow. It sounds like you need to use a nail strengthener like Sally Hansen Hard as Diamonds. You need to go get the pedicure. Ask her what to do about it.
Get one anyway. Treat yourself to a pedicure. Trust me your feet aren't nearly as bad as what they're accustomed to seeing. If the length of your toe nails is your only concern you can also have acrylic tips applied to your toe nails to add length.
Since a pedicure is almost twice the price as a manicure, why not explain your situation to the salon. Ask if they can substitute a manicure (since you are ';downgrading';).

On the positive side, you are still patronizing them--rather than taking your business elsewhere, and they do not want to loose you as a customer. Remember to tip them, and be courteous to them--expecially if you would like them to be your regular salon

Hope this helps. Best of luck to you and your nails.
1] file toenails so they edges are smooth, not necessarily even with other toenails

2] buff them! use the smooth/buff/polish sides, not the even out ridges side

3] try a nail hardener, like Sally Hanson

What shoes should I wear for a Pedicure?

I am about to go get a pedicure with my friend and it is freezing out...all my flats hit my toenails so I was thinking about wearing my uggs...will I be ok or will my toenails get all messed up?What shoes should I wear for a Pedicure?
this is a trick that they use in the trade! if you leave your toe nails for as long as possible then when you have to put your shoes on cover your toes in cling film. your nails have to be slightly dry first though . then you can put socks and shoes on!What shoes should I wear for a Pedicure?
You can bring your UGGs, but I'd recommend that after you get them painted you stay there for a while longer than usual to let them dry.

Its best to wear open toed shoes like flip flops but if it's too cold, just let them dry before you put any shoes on. And UGGs are loose, so it should be alright. But you never know.

    Hope that helps.
Take flip flops, park as close as possible to the salon, and make a mad dash back to the car. Uggs may be okay but I'd give yourself another 15 minutes wait time after your pedi to make sure your nails are okay.

Trust me, I've tried a variety of experiments, and there's nothing as terrible as spending money and then messing up your nails 5 minutes afterward!
When you have a pedicure done, they put at least 2 layers on so your hair won't be dry for ages. Even wearing uggs, your nails are likely to get messed up.

I know it's freezing, but the best thing you can do it wear open toed shoes - flip flops or sandals.
Wear open toed pumps unless its snowing, you might slide around. This way your toes will be out, but the rest of your foot will be covered.
You can wear your Uggs but just make sure your nails are completely dry before you put them back on
wear flip flops those would be best even though it's cold out your just going to have to suck it up

Is it ok to use my own tools while getting a manicure/pedicure?

I know this sounds weird, but when I go to get my nails and toes done, is it okay to bring in my own tools (nail clipper, filer, polish, etc.)? Is it offensive? I prefer to use my own things because I'm a clean/germ freak. I also notice so far the people who do my nails don't really sanitize their tools, they just take it out of their box, use it, wipe it on a towel, then put it back into their boxes. So, I want to bring in my own tool. Also, if anyone can tell me where I can purchase good quality tools as well, that would be helpful. I don't want to be bring in cheap tools and make it harder on them to do their work. Thanks so much! =)Is it ok to use my own tools while getting a manicure/pedicure?
I would say it depends on the people working in the establishment you are getting your manicures / pedicures. I don't know if you would consider this apples and oranges, but I have been to several family-owned Italian restaurants over the years, and if you were to bring your own silverware to eat in their restaurant with they would probably tell you to get the f__k out. If you don't want to risk offending anyone I would say find another nail salon that does sanitize their tools after each customer, this will save you all the trouble of worrying about offending anyone by bringing in your own tools plus you won't have to spend the extra money to buy the tools yourself. Is it ok to use my own tools while getting a manicure/pedicure?
not weird, but wondering why you wouldn't learn how to do your own mani/pedis- i kind of enjoy going out for them too, but had an infection once (after wearing acrylics) %26amp; when i went back to that salon, they said looked like a bruise. but no- it was a nasty black spot under my nail that took weeks to clear up.

    anyway, bring your own
Definitely bring your own tools. It's your body, and nail infections are horrible. Not sure where to get good quality. Check out a professional nail technician site?
What's wrong with asking the technician when you are booking the apointment if she/he minds if you bring your own tools. Tell them right out that you don't want to offend them in any way, but this is your preference. I would think that if you ask them up front they won't have a problem with it and if they do, consider changing locations. As for where to buy them I would try to get them through a supplier if possible.

What colour nail polish for my pedicure?

I'm going to Las Vegas to a wedding at Mandalay Bay. I'm wearing a black and white crossover style dress. My shoes are a peeptoe in patent. I'm fair skinned and full figured girl. What colour toe nail polish? Is red too.. uhm, you know..What colour nail polish for my pedicure?
French pedicures are horrible. Do not do.

If you want an alternative to red, do an orange. Orange is a hot color this season. I like OPI's Don't Be Koi with me, or Cajun Shrimp for an intense red-like orange. Keep it to a cream finish (as opposed to glitter or shimmer) or anything with a lot of frost or that looks different in different lights.

Other hot colors are blue. There is a new OPI blue called something like ';I'm Dating a Royal'; that's way hot, a deep periwinkle with a glossy cream finish. Get that one if you think orange is too garish. What colour nail polish for my pedicure?
I always wear silver on my toes. Not the bold kind but the sparkle but clear kind. When I wear that my friends think that I'm wearing fake nails (which is actually good!) It accents your skin tone but only if your skin tone is slightly medium (very light medium) It goes great with anything so try it! Deep red is a color for fingers, it helps you flirt and be careful with your hands but it doesn't do anything for your toes.
    No no dont wear black.

Add a vibrant color on your toes so they peep out %26amp; add spice %26amp; color!!

Reds are great %26amp; there are so many reds to choose from.

Visit OPI.com %26amp; look at their samples of nail polish colors as they are shown on a models hand. You can even pick the skin tone to help you decide.

IF you have nice fingernails, think about going with the same shade of red. IF not brave enough, tone it down a bit.

P.S. Have a good time at the wedding!!
OPI Cajun Shrimp. It's a red, orange, pink color that goes with everything because it sorta changes with the light and what you are wearing. Very popular summer color.
Please don't wear black, that's terrible. I think red is a good idea, it looks great on fair skin. There are different shades of red though so you need to decide which one would suit you the best and be most approproate. Have fun at the wedding!
omg please dont wear black %26amp; french is too boring!

i say either OPI pinking of you (soft pink), OPI elaphantastic (the perfect shade of pink) , or OPI cajun shrimp (coral/ redish-orange)
I'd definitely go red with the shoes and dress.
    Black!

thats a har d decision! I love the way my nails look after a manicure but there is something about a pedicure that is so relaxing and indulgent so i'd have to say pedicure I guess.
A pedi because I use my hands too much and them doing my nails never lasts for more that 3 days, plus I have naturally strong growing nails so fake ones are not necessary.

Pedicures last for a long time (at least a month or until there is noticeable nail growth).

Manicures are needed more often just because your fingers are always in use. Once a week is good if you're just having them polished. If you get acrylics, every two weeks is good.
    everyday if possible
    BI WEEKLY
    as often as you wish

Well I don't know how often you get yours done-however I get mine done every other week. I just make sure I don't hit them on anything and don't touch them the day you get them done because even when you don't realize that can cause the nail polish to clump than the texture isn't smooth and does become visible. I know we are in a Recession so not everyone can get them done every other week so just like make sure you don't pick at them or like get them hit on anythingHow can I keep my pedicure nice between appointments?
    Have short intervals between appointments.

As a nail tech, I can tell you that getting a pedicure is the BEST thing to go for!!!! Your feet take a beating every day and need the most care... it's also the most relaxing of the spa services--aside from a full massage. For the best experience, avoid those discount nail salons--too much traffic for relaxing.

Silk Wraps are for reinforcing your natural nail, they don't serve well as artificial nails alone. If you have fairly strong natural nails and just need a little extra help in keeping them from breaking this would be a good option for you.

Go for a specialty pedicure! Don't skimp on the price, you want the best!

Things to avoid... foot razors! Only a medical dr should be using blades (most states they are illegal but some get away with it because folks don't know they are) Avoid any tech that's not willing to explain proceedures, and run like the dickens if the footbath isn't clean or they pull their clippers (metal instruments) out of a drawer (they should be in a sanitizer bath or sealed packages) and make sure they use NEW files and such (the disposable stuff).

Massages are great if you like them (I've always been too weird about people touching my body to be comfortable) and no, you don't have to be totally nude. Explain that you are nervous and they will understand... ANY respectable massage therapist will be more than glad to accomidate you to make you comfortable!

  • Is it weird for a man to have a pedicure?

Im willing to try anything once. What do you girls think? Is it weird for a man to have a pedicure?
To be honest you will probably love it, I don't understand why guys are so scared to try it out. It's relaxing and makes you feel better and more importantly you're feet will be all nice and soft :)

plus I kinda have always liked a guy that would step up and do something crazy like this anyways :PIs it weird for a man to have a pedicure?
No it's not. Feet need to be taken care of, and having a professional take care of them for you just makes sense. You can avoid problems like ingrown toenails and painful cracked heels, which is smart no matter if you're male of female.

If you're not comfortable doing this regularly at a salon, then go once for a proper job and to watch how it's done. From there you can buy your own products (you don't need much, usually you can buy a little kit) then you can do it yourself at home. As a girl, ugly feet (rough dead skin etc) on a guy is a turn off, so I don't think your prospective partners would complain about it either!
not at all, guys who take care of themselves get ALOT more girls than guys who sont. just like a guy wouldnt want to see a girl with dirty fingers or toes, we dont wanna see a guy that way either. you should definitely try it, and it feels really good lol
im a beauty therapist and i have a distinction in pedicure. one of my models was a guy. it looked so much more attractive.
well, i no a couple of guys who have gotten one, even tho it was a one time thing.

    i laughed at them tho.

if u get one, thats cool,

just dont go around bragging bout it.
    More guys should get pedicures.
    hmph:)

    yes.

    my uncle gets them.

i'd rather i guy have pedicured feet than GROSS feet.

    just no polish ;)
nthng weird at all, it luks good actually...... dont be nervous go for it!
I see lot's of men come in for a pedicure. Soooo I don't see how anything could be strange about it.
It looks clean for guys.go for it!lol!
    it's kinda weird yeah
No don't think it's weird.. just don't wear polish :)
    yeah
honestly i would prefer it .... guys feet are just plain nasty sometimes..

What is a nice nail polish from essie or opi to wear as a manicure pedicure to go with a brown dress?

with a brown dress, you should keep your nails neutral but with a bit of a sheer pink color so it's still cute. my favorite nail polish from essie is sugar daddy, it's amazing. it compliments every single skin tone and it gives you such a pretty hint of color. What is a nice nail polish from essie or opi to wear as a manicure pedicure to go with a brown dress?
I wore a new chocolate brown dress last weekend and had a mani/pedi using OPI's ';Berry Berry Broadway'; and received lots of compliments on how nice it looked. What is a nice nail polish from essie or opi to wear as a manicure pedicure to go with a brown dress?

What do they do when you get a manicure/pedicure?

i am getting a manicure/pedicure tonight, and wondered what they do to you when you get them. Also can you give suggestions on what i should get done?

-people that have had manicures/pedicures done ONLY please!!What do they do when you get a manicure/pedicure?
They pour some powder into the foot bath, turn it on, and stick your feet in.

Some salons even have massaging chairs while your feet soak.

After a while, they turn the jets off, dry your feet, massage, and begin ';sanding'; the dead skin off from callouses on the pads of your feet.

Then they go to your toes and clip away at excess dead skin there before they paint them.

After your nails dry a bit they give you these flimsy flip-flops for you to walk in while your nails dry and they do your nails.

Depends on the kind of manicure you want done, though.

They'll massage your hand for a little before starting.

If it's a French manicure with fake tips, they trim your nails, shape them, and glue the fake tips on.

Then after they put the rest of the nail coating on, they file and buff by hand and with a tool for a while. Make sure to tell them if that hurts, because they shouldn't be hurting your cuticles.

If it's a regular one, they just shape and file your nails before painting them.

And if they have a lamp, they'll direct you towards it so your nails can dry and harden quickly. What do they do when you get a manicure/pedicure?
    manicure

take off any nail polish you have on already, soak ur hands in water to soften you cuticles..they take off ur cuticles that can hurt a tiny tiny bit sometimes but usually it doesnt they file down yours nails and trim them a little sometimes to make them round or however you want them.., they put lotion on ur hands and up ur arms a little and massage it and rub in the lotion...then they put clear polish on, then put on hte polish that you choose...and then you sit under a light for your polish to dry

    for a pedicure

they soak ur feet in warm water, with peppermint soaking stuff that smells really good..then they they take off ur cuticles.... they file down yours nails and trim them a little sometimes .., they put lotion on ur feet and up ur legs a little and massage it and rub in the lotion...then they put clear polish on, then put on hte polish that you choose...and then you sit under a light for your polish to dry

and thats about all that happens!!!!!!
If you are getting a manicure and not fake nails, the manicurist will soak your hands, clean and clip your cuticles and then file and if you like, paint your nails. If you are getting fake nails, that will take a bit longer as they will glue fake nails on your nails, cut them down to whatever length you want, then put some nail stuff on them so the seam doesn't show. They file them and shape them then paint them. As for the pedicure, they are wonderful! Some salons have a ';Spa'; chair that you sit in which vibrates (if you want) for relaxation. Your feet will soak in a warm bath and the pedicurist will trim your toe-nails, massage your legs and feet, rub lotion into them, then paint your toe nails. It's a great experience. HAVE FUN!
I just got a manicure on Saturday and they don't do anything hurtful, all the do is clean, scrub the cuticles, they put 2 to 3 coats of clear nail polish and then a pink clear one so it will look natural and then once the nail polish is dry..they'll ask you to wash your hands with soap and once your done they will ask you if you want a french manicure or any colors you want..I got myself a french manicure and they are my real nails and they do a great job and for pedicures they will wash your feet, scrub all the dry areas where needed, so that way it will be soft and smooth and they do the exactly the same thing with the nails and then after that they will massage it once it's done and let me tell you something i like pedicures better because it's so relaxing and it feels so good..so whatever you do enjoy
Mani: They will soak your hands after taking off any old polish you have on. push your cuticles back and then clip your nails and file them to your desiered shape. They will apply a base coat to your nails and the two coats of paint followed by another clear top coat. Then they will soften your hands by applying lotion.

Pedi: They will remove your polish and soak your feet. Then they will remove all the dead skin from your feet, clip and file your toes and finish like on your hands.

The best colors a bright pinks, oranges, and reds.
With a manicure, they massage your hands, file the nails down, clean underneath the nails, buff the nails, cut the cuticles, then polish then the way you feel.

With a pedicure, they massage your feet, file away the dead skin, cut cuticles, shape the nails, buff the nails, soak the feet, then polish then the way you want....

    Have fun....
with a mani, they file and buff your nails and remove your cuticles. then they put a warm towel over your hands for a while and after use this lotion to massage your hands and lower arms. with a pedi they put your feet in a whirlpool tub and scrub the bottom of your feet, and basically do the same thing they do as a mani.(im a nail tech.)
i love to get manicures they feel SO good. if you want your nails painted don't get something tacky like lime green, get purple red or preferably pink spakles.
im having a french manicure on friday

they clean all old nail varnish off u nails

    soak ur hands

    soften ur cuticles

    apply the base coat

    apply the second coat

    apply the last coat

then do the same with the nail

ive never had a n basic manicure ive always had a frenchie

  • How do you get a manicure or a pedicure at a salon? What is it like?

I don't think I quite get your question but from what I understood, you just ask for a manicure/pedicure. They'll ask you what color you want, or if you want french manicure/pedicure. If the salon is a good one then you will leave satisfied.

How often do you get a manicure/pedicure done :]?

What does it usually cost you?How often do you get a manicure/pedicure done :]?
    I've never gotten a Manicure..

I've gotten 3 pedicures in my life (i'm almost 15)

    So...yeah, like never..

I bought a Ped-Egg, and some Nail polish..

    It's a lot cheaper than 25 dollars a month!How often do you get a manicure/pedicure done :]?
Hopefully once a month from now on. Haha, I just started getting allowance and I for sure want to get manicures. Usually its once every few months. Pedicures I haven't ever got on. I hate it when people mess with my feet. The only place I ever go to get manicure's i get fake nails. They were 30$. Just having them paint and such was like $15. Pedicures are maybe 20$. Theres a place here fake nails are 20 painting and such were 10 and pedi's were 15.
Usually every 2 weeks, but I stretch it to 3 to save money. It's around $45-50 for both services plus extra for airbrushing, designs, etc plus the tip. Altogether for me around $65, i try to do my toes myself every other time though.
I never get manicures...and I get a pedicure maybe once every two months. My nails grow really slowly, so I just file them a tiny bit in between. My polish stays perfect for 2 months, lol. It costs me about 15 dollars (the place where I go anyway, and they do a great job)
Once in the beginnig of the summer so that I have it all summer. It usually costs me about $20 and I usually get a pedicure with a cute design or maybe a french pedicure.

    Hope I helped!
I have never had either done but will have a pedicure done in my spa package next week all I know is it is $275 plus tax and tip for a massage, facial, and pedi.
at the salon, hardly ever. i do my own now [:

at the salon, the total cost is almost $30.

so it's probably like $15 for each.

but now, i do my own every couple of weeks to change it or touch it up.
I've gotten a manicure twice in my life (a wedding and my conformation), and I've never gotten a pedicure. =[ I'm so ungirly.
Hardly ever! lol I think it depends on what type you get and if you get artifical nails and so on. SO anywhere from like $10-$50 and up, at least thats what it is around here~
every 3-4 weeks. it's usually free for me since my parents own the place. but usually its $30 for both.
Usually once a month or every other month. For me it's $9 for mani, $13 for pedi. It really depends where you go. It ranges from $20-$40.
    $50 combined.

I get a mani/pedi usually every six months. I find it so horrible that I (male) am mocked for getting one! I just like to keep my nails clean!
    Like once every 6 months

Its $25 for mani and that's considered cheap.

    Not worth it.
never but i have went with lots of people who have and it was generally 60 bucks for both
    Once a month

    mani = $10

    pedi = $18

Getting a pedicure with a pinky blister?

I wanted to get a pedicure all week, and today I wore these super cute shoes from Macys. Well, as fate would have it, I got a blister on top of my pinky toe. Would it be rude of me to get a pedicure with that? I don't want to gross the technician out or anything x.x; Advice?Getting a pedicure with a pinky blister?
ohh i have had the same thing happen to me. i get blisters on the side of my big toes from all the soccer i play. all i would do it just tell them about your blister and to be easy on it. then you get a pedicure but w/out worrying about them trying to pop it or anything. but dont worry relax and have fun!Getting a pedicure with a pinky blister?
Trust me, we've seen worse! lol

Please go ahead and enjoy your pedicure, just make sure to tell your nail technician about it so that they can be careful of it and not pop it accidentally (or intentionally). It's considered a local contraindication meaning all that is needed is to avoid the area.

    enjoy your pedicure!
No, dear. It's their job. They get a fine salary doing your feet.
just think it could be worse. you could being getting an enema and have hemroids.

  • What color would you choose for a pedicure?

Hi! I'm looking for a long-lasting color for my pedicure tomorrow - I think my salon uses OPI.

What would you recommend? (If this helps - I have very pale skin [which I'm hoping will get tanner], dark brown hair, and brown eyes...all natural, lol)What color would you choose for a pedicure?
I would choose a color that is slightly darker than your toe color. That way as your toenails grow out, it won't show very much. OPI is great polish, so it will hold up. Also, buy a bottle of whatever color you choose, so you can touch up if you need to.What color would you choose for a pedicure?
a lot of people say light colors for the summer.

i'm really pale too, i love getting darker ones - reds, maybe a brown, because i tan really easily so i get olive-y skin and it looks gorg with those colors.
Hmmmm...... I say maybe a deep red. With ur pale skin, it will look pretty. Plus ur dark hair %26amp; eyes would look fabulous w/ red. Also, red is nice classy color for your toes that goes with just about everything!

    Hope that helps!
use Koala berry., it is so pretty bright and summery and looks great on everyone!
    Majenta!!!!!!

    It looks good on anyone!!

i have a lot of callouses, and my feet are kinda nasty from all of the long-distance running i do.....so i'm getting a pedicure :)

what should i have painted on or whatever?

i don't even know what they offer?

should i get just a color? in general, what type of the designs do they have?

or should i get a french-nail look on my toes?

    opinions? suggestions?

thanks! What should i have done at first pedicure?
First off, know how much money you are going to spend. I went with my mom and sister to get our nails painted for her wedding and it added up fast. The color painting comes with the cost of the pedicure. French nails cost a little extra. Most salons offer to do little flowery designs on one toe on each foot, but that costs about $5 extra. I feel like some old lady ranting on about prices, but sometimes its difficult to understand what they're saying because normally they don't speak much English and a lot of them try and get you to spend a lot more than you should. What should i have done at first pedicure?
They can do french tips on toes, but I think it looks really weird on some feet. If youre tan, bright pinks look cute. Normally I get darker colors, which seem to be the most flattering. They can do little flowers and stuff by hand, and some places can do airbrushing, where they do designs and stuff.
I like the french manicure on fingers and toes. I'm currently sporting both! :) But I also like a solid color with decals. Enjoy it though, it's heaven!

How can i do a pedicure at home?

What do i dip my feet in.. and what salt and lotion do i use and all that ....How can i do a pedicure at home?
Soak feet in soapy warm water for approx 10min. A foot soak will get the water soapy-Avon has some really great smelling ones. you can add epsom salt if you wish: this process soothes tired feet as well as softens heel for pumice stone.

scrub/scrape heels with pumice stone and foot file to smooth away any dead skin from heels. clip nails and file. also clean cuticles without using cuticle remover lotion. just push back gently with orangewood stick. apply cuticle oil and gently rub into cuticle.

dry feet thoroughly and apply lotion to entire foot esp. heels. you can use raw shea butter on heels or entire foot. Apply base coat alone or nail color or other fancy nail applications if you wish.

good luckHow can i do a pedicure at home?
easier solution...find a nail salon you trust, and schedule a pedicure there...unless you are ashamed of your toes or toenails for some reason...the good ones will massage your feet, and buff your nails and buff away any calluses on the bottom or your feet...cost you about $25 and about an hour of your time...repeated on a monthly basis can make your feet feel wonderful!
soak feet in bubble bath for 10 min. water needs to be warm pull one foot out at a time and file nails put oil on cuticle, then lotion dry feet and polish. any lotion will do if you want to get fancy go to store or beauty supply and get scented lotions and oils
i suggest that you consider soaking feet in whole milk laced with rose petals. the milk proteins serve as a great moisturizer and the rose petals add great fragrance.

then ( if you want added moisture) put on a grapefruit lotion (great smell)!!!!

How much does a manicure&pedicure (together) cost at wal mart?

You will need to call. The nail salons (as well as hair salons, hearing aid centers, banks) are leased space. They pay rent to Walmart, but are not owned by Walmart, so it will vary from location to location. The nail salon in my local store is independently owned, and not a chain. The owner works there doing nails herself.

If you call the Walmart, the phone operator may have the phone number on hand for that salon. How much does a manicure%26amp;pedicure (together) cost at wal mart?
Hmmm I would guesstimate about....25-30? I walked by our WalMarts salon and a manicure was $10 ..so I assume a pedicure costs about 15-20. Don't they usually have a big sign showing all the prices?

Cna somebody explain me the different steps of the pedicure ?

And also what's the difference between the normal one and the spa one ??? You know, I need to get one this week. Thanks everybody !!!Cna somebody explain me the different steps of the pedicure ?
    Performing a basic pedicure

    Remove shoes and socks

soak clients feet for about 5 min. to clean and soften cuticles

Dry feet thouroughly and place the clients feet on a towel.

    remove the polish if any

clip the toe nails, but make sure not to clip them too low as this will cause ingrown toe nails to occur.

    file the nails

use foot file on the bottom of the feet to smooth calluses or hard skin.

    rinse the feet.

(make sure to do one feet at a time. Put the feet that you did back in the spa making sure to rub of any access skin into the water. Put that feet in the water and then perform the same procedure on the other feet.) now while the 2nd feet is soaking go back to the first feet and continue.......

Apply cuticle remover to each toe

use a wooden or metal pushet to remove the dead skin.

brush the toenails using the maincure/pedicure brush. dry thoroughly.

Apply lotion or cream to condition the skin.

massage foot using lotion and you may even massage part of the legs for a more pleasurable service for the client.

Keep the feet out of the water after that. complete the rest of the steps for the other feet. keep that feet out of the water.

Expose of the water so that it is not in the way of you or the cliente.

apply base coat. Then apply polish of clientes choice (apply twice)

Apply one layer of top coat.

Wallahhh!!!! you have a professional basic pedicure.Cna somebody explain me the different steps of the pedicure ?
Well, they soak your feet in warm water, to soften the nails and skin. During this time they massage your bottom part of your leg and ankle. They dry and trim the nails, oil the cuticle and paint.

A spa would get more involved in what was in the water for the soak, and get more involved with the leg massage and what special lotions they would use, and also the foot care products used.

Do it, thier nice and relaxing.
a spa one gives u a massage. the steps cary but usually begin with a soak and scrub. then, they disinfect, if needed. then, they start by filing and buffing and regualr manicure stuff. finally, they paint. plus, u get those fun flip-flops! haha!!! hope i helped!!!

Weekly, every two weeks, etc.How often should you go to get a pedicure?
i would go every week but it says you should only have one once every three months because of the products they use chemicelsHow often should you go to get a pedicure?
the more often you do it the better your feet will turn out at least every two weeks is about a good amount
never they are a waste of money
you could get nail fungus if u dont let ur nails breathe
you should get one at every two weeks or whenever nessary, which ever comes first
I get them about once a month... depends on how good of a pedi I got.
    every 3 weeks.
Whenever the last one starts to look tacky, the polish is chipping off, etc. I have to agree with the lady who said it depends on how good the last pedi was. For me, it's usually about every 3 weeks.
Usually once a month in the fall/winter and 2x a month in the spring/summer.
Normaly once you get a pedicure it will last 1 to 3 weeks. So I would say go about every month.

To make it last longer use a coat of clear every day or two.

I can't do the nails as well (filing) but you can fill a basin with river rocks or marbles and soapy water the rocks/marbles act as pressure points - and it helps relax your whole self.

Add even warmer water from the kettle (stove) once started.

    Get some fluffy towels -

Make a sea salt scrub with olive oil and kosher salt and buy a brush to get your toes really clean. Add a pumice if you want too -

Clip toes after they soak and wash off after filing -

Apply only herbal based foot creams (no mineral oils)

find a fun polish and top coat and enjoy!

I splurge for the pedicure but I do fun foot soaks as a skin care consultant. enjoy!

How much does the average manicure and pedicure cost?

In the United StatesHow much does the average manicure and pedicure cost?
$15 for manicure, $30 for pedicure. How much does the average manicure and pedicure cost?
    35 to 40 dollars
manicure $15 pedicure with white tips (i just got one yesterday, and it is wonderful $26
It really depends where you go, because some nail shops will charge you too much and when there done it looks like nothing. So when you go to get them done make sure they charge you for what you get. And if you don't like it you can tell them. But it's best if you go to someone with experience and went to school to do nails. So they will charge from $25.00 to $45.00. And at least $60.00 for both.
    About 45 bucks
    15- 18 mani 30-45 pedi
in canada its about 40 bucks for each
depends on whether you go to a upscale salon or a small franchise.. I guess for each it would be anything between 15-50 dollars, again this depends on where you go
    Depending on the city %26amp; spa, $30 - $125
That would depend on the place you do business with. Average can be anywhere from $ 25-75 each.
at any strip mall nail salon, it is about 35$ for both mani and pedi. add 10 bucks for french.

it is 40$ for regular mani and pedi in NYC.
    $12 to $15 for a Mani, $20 for a Pedi and $30 to $35 for both...
Here in San Antonio, Texas manicure of your own nails is about $10 and a pedicure is about $25. To have acrylic nails on it would be $20. If you go in for both manicure and pedicure together it knocks some off - $30 or 40. It is worth every penny though.
It's the ';Happy Ending'; that makes them expensive.
Around 20-25 for the pedicure and the maniocure is about 10-15
At a Day Spa, manicure 30.00/ pedicure 55.00

On the average at a nail place, probably manicure 20.00/ pedicure/ 40.00 (USA)
Where I live....northern Ohio, manicures go for about $20 plus a tip. Pedicures go for about $50 plus a tip.
In the US normally about 20 a piece separate. The places around me you can get both for 35.. but you should leave a tip. What state are you in? Im in PA... prices are the same in TX and DE... depends where you are. Also, spring the extra 3 or 4 bucks to use brand new tools if they dont already do so. And stay away from the salons in the mall.. they tend to charge a lot more.
    $30-$35

Who else thinks it is pathetic that Casey Anthony needs a shower and Pedicure to talk about her daughter?

That is sad! Who else thinks it is pathetic that Casey Anthony needs a shower and Pedicure to talk about her daughter?
    Very very sad!

I hope and pray that this little girl is found alive and well.

However, in my gut I don't think she is fine and even if she is I don't think she should be returned to her mother. It's obvious that Casey has only been thinking about herself behind those bars and foul play or no foul play she was still responsible for Caylee. I really think, though, that the media should back of this ridiculous Leonard Padilla and not even give him the publicity. It is Caylee they are hoping to find so I don't care what the man in the ten gallon hat has to say. The only innocent person in this case is Caylee. Who else thinks it is pathetic that Casey Anthony needs a shower and Pedicure to talk about her daughter?
Well I'll chime in. Of course it's Pathetic, with a Capital ';P';.

And you'll find most decent, normal mothers agreeing with you.

That's the problem. She isn't normal.. Even the 'bounty hunter' thinks he's only going to get information out of her this way.

But Praise God if that child is found alive, I'll cut her toenails myself.. and try not to 'miss'.! :)
There is something seriously wrong with that woman.
I'm not surprised, she's much more concerned about herself than little Caylee.
maybe she is trying to wash away her guilt.

How Do I do a home manicure/pedicure the right way?

CALL UP ONE OF UR FRIENDS TO DO IT OR U CAN GO ON AVON NOW THEY HAVE STICKETS THAT LOOK LIKE NAILS N THEY HAVE NAIL POLISHHow Do I do a home manicure/pedicure the right way?
Remove all existing polish from nails.

Soak hands/feet in warm soapy water (dishsoap is fine) for about 10 mins.

Use a nailbrush to clean and loosen the cuticles then rinse.

While the nails and cuticles are still soft, clip toenails straight across, clip ruff broken edges on the fingernails, and use the flat end of a nail file/wood cuticle stick/small screw driver, to push the back the cuticle - toe %26amp; finger nail.

When nails are dry, file the ruffness %26amp; sharp corners from the toe nails (maintain the straight across) and shape the finger nails to your preference.

You are ready to finish with polish and a good clear top coat. How Do I do a home manicure/pedicure the right way?

Before step 10 you should add a base coat so the nail polish do not turn your nail yellow.
Here are some websites that might help you:
Well you need to have cuticle cream and oil and cutile sticks for both your hands and feet. Your fingers should be soaked in soapy water for about 10-15 minutes. After soaking put cuticle cream around your nail beds then push cuticles back and use scissors to cut of dead skin. Then you file your nails use a cream that goes on the bed and then use a buffer so the nails shine without any polish and then wash your nails and use a nails brush to be sure you remove all dirt and dust from nails and now you're ready to polish. For feet you need to soak your feet in water . you usually always keep the foot your not working on in the water. Feet are more difficult . You need to have a pumice stone to scrub your heels and sometimes you'll need to use a tool that's made by tweezerman that allows you to use a blade to scrap of dead skin, but you need to be careful with this. You can hurt yourself if you aren't careful. For your toenails use the cuticle stick to clean out nails and push cutcle back. I have never buffed my toe nails. After all that you should put lotion on your feet and then use nail polish remove to remove the lotion from your toe nails and then your ready to polish. It's time consuming but it's kinda fun to do with friends. When I was young my mom got me and my sister beauty in a bucket and it contained some of the stuff you need but it was just fun. My Mom's a little over the top we even have a paraffin dip in our home.....but we have fun!!!
